Access is part of care
A care plan only works if the patient can reach the practice, schedule the visit, ask the question, and get follow-up when something changes.
Atrium Medical is an independent internal medicine practice at 160 East 56th Street, 12th Floor, in Midtown Manhattan, near the 59th Street/Lexington Avenue subway hub.
Founded in 2018 by Dr. Shilpa Paradkar Singh, MD, after completing her medical residency in New York City and practicing medicine here for almost a decade, Atrium was built around a simple idea: New Yorkers deserved better than the usual tradeoff between a solo doctor who can disappear when access gets hard, and a corporate medical system where every visit feels like a transaction.
Today, more than 10,000 New Yorkers have trusted Atrium for primary care, prevention, urgent visits, chronic disease management, insurance-based care, and newer services built around the needs of our patients. We are physician-led, team-based, and built around the kind of care many patients stopped expecting: a clinician who knows your history, a team that answers when something comes up, and a practice that stays in the picture over time.

New York has some of the best hospitals, specialists, imaging centers, and medical talent in the world. But for many patients, actually getting care still feels harder than it should.
One doctor handles the annual physical. Another place handles urgent symptoms. A specialist orders a test. A portal sends a result. A hospital system sends a message. A patient is left trying to connect the pieces.
Atrium Medical was built for that gap.
After completing her medical residency in New York City and practicing medicine here for almost a decade, Dr. Shilpa Paradkar Singh saw the same problem again and again: patients had charts, specialists, medications, and test results, but often no one clearly holding the whole story.
Atrium is not a solo practice where everything depends on one person being available at the exact moment you need help. It is not a corporate chain where patients are moved through a protocol and sent back into the city with another portal login.
Atrium is an independent, physician-led primary care practice designed to be a medical home base for New Yorkers. The idea is simple: your primary care practice should know your history, track your labs, understand your risks, help coordinate your specialists, and be there when a new problem comes up.
That should not feel rare. But in New York, it often does.
A care plan only works if the patient can reach the practice, schedule the visit, ask the question, and get follow-up when something changes.
An annual physical is not just a checklist. Good preventive care connects blood pressure, cholesterol, A1c, family history, symptoms, sleep, weight, medications, cancer screening, and risk over time.
The diagnosis is often in the pattern. A lab value, symptom, medication change, family history detail, or shift in energy may mean little alone. In context, it can change the plan.
Atrium does not replace New York’s major hospitals and specialists. We help patients use them better. When the primary care team knows the full picture, referrals are more focused and follow-up is clearer.
No one should leave a visit confused about why labs were ordered, why a referral was made, what a result means, or what happens next. Clear communication is part of good care.
Patients often come to Atrium after years of feeling bounced around.Their previous doctor retired, left a network, or became impossible to schedule. Their hospital-system PCP had a twelve-week wait and a different face every visit. They were using urgent care for problems that deserved real follow-up and knew it.
Atrium is built for you.
The first visit is not just an intake form. It is a planning visit. We review the history, medications, prior labs, active concerns, family history, preventive screenings, and what has been missed. Then we leave with a real next step.
After that, the relationship is the point. When labs come back, they are reviewed. When a specialist is needed, the referral has context. When something happens between visits, the practice is still in the picture.
Atrium is calm, personal, and practical. Patients can still see their outside specialists. They can still use NYU, Mount Sinai, Lenox Hill, Weill Cornell, HSS, MSK, or any other system when needed. Atrium’s role is to keep the full picture connected.
That means the same practice can help with an annual physical, blood pressure, thyroid symptoms, cholesterol, diabetes risk, respiratory infections, allergies, weight management, perimenopause, testosterone evaluation, PrEP, immigration physicals, concierge medicine, and the confusing middle ground between “I feel off” and “I know exactly what specialist I need.”

Trust in medicine is earned over time: visit by visit, phone call by phone call, lab result by lab result. Atrium’s reputation comes from that daily work, but patients should also be able to see the public signals around Dr. Shilpa Paradkar Singh and the excellent clinical team at Atrium.

Atrium works best for patients who want a real clinical relationship, not a transaction.
Many of our patients care deeply about their health. They want prevention, clear explanations, labs interpreted in context, and a physician who connects symptoms over time instead of treating each visit like a blank slate.
We are a good fit for patients interested in longevity, metabolic health, hormonal health, cardiovascular prevention, weight management, and understanding what their body is actually doing. Some come to us after years of feeling dismissed, bounced between specialists, or told that everything is normal when they know something has changed.
We are also a good fit for straightforward primary care patients who simply want a practice that is reachable, organized, and clinically serious. You do not need to be complicated to deserve good care.
Atrium is not a pill mill. We do not prescribe medications simply because a patient asks for them, and we do not treat online trends as a substitute for clinical judgment. If a medication, test, supplement, hormone, or imaging study makes sense, we will explain why. If it does not, we will explain that too.
That matters most with controlled substances. Opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and similar medications require a real diagnosis, appropriate documentation, follow-up, and monitoring. Patients looking for an unlimited prescription pad can find Atrium frustrating and usually let Google and Yelp know about it. We can live with that.
The goal is not to make care harder. The goal is to keep care real. Atrium is built for patients who want a physician to take them seriously, and who also want that physician to be honest with them. Sometimes the best care is a prescription. Sometimes it is a lab, a referral, a lifestyle change, or a hard conversation. The point is that the recommendation should come from medicine, not pressure.
Atrium Medical is independent. That means the practice is not owned by a hospital system, not operated by a national urgent care chain, and not built around corporate medicine.
But independent does not mean isolated.
Atrium works with patients who receive specialist care across New York City, including major hospital systems, private specialists, imaging centers, laboratories, and pharmacies. The difference is that Atrium remains the patient’s home base. We help patients understand what is happening, what needs follow-up, what can wait, and what should not be ignored.
Patients can still see specialists at world class New York institutions. Atrium’s job is to keep the clinical story together.
Our clinical affiliations: NYU Langone Health; Lenox Hill Hospital / Northwell Health.
Our commonly coordinated specialist networks: Mount Sinai; Weill Cornell Medicine; Hospital for Special Surgery; Memorial Sloan Kettering; other New York specialists as clinically appropriate.
